We are here to foster our passion for hiking and to help positively impact the lives of others.
I started hiking in 2017 when training to climb Mt Kilimanjiro with my husband. I found the training walks to be re-energising, meditative and fun. After a week in Kilimanjiro, despite the altitude headaches and nausea, I was hooked. I loved it! The group of 8 random strangers we hiked with became our Kili family. We encouraged each other every day and together made it through summit night. It was tough, but the energy we shared and the energy we were able to draw from the mountains saw us through.
Since 2017, I have done many ultra and multi-day hikes. They have taken me to new and exciting places such as Iceland and Patagonia or the Rockies in Canada. But they've also allowed me to intimately get to know places I'd been to before such as the Alps on the Tour of Mt Blanc, or the Atlas mountains in Morocco.
What I've learnt along the way is that hiking build resilience - it's quite common to have to overcome your limits - and that lies very much in the mind. It also builds empathy, and a sense of team. You build connections with total strangers and help each other to get through the hard times, as well as relish to good!
